Last night I watched the Oscars, I thought the women and men looked amazing.  Did you watch the Oscars and what did you enjoy about it?  Today we met in reading groups and discussed our informational texts and took notes on article two.  Then we started publishing our persuasive letters to Mrs. Lucas and other staff members to either change or keep something.  We then moved into math and reviewed double digit addition and subtracting without regrouping.  We start working double digit with regrouping.  We continued our day with making a list of words that have the ant sound in them and also words which have pose as a root word.  We had a fantastic day filled with tons of learning, and tomorrow is library day.  I look forward to library day because Mrs. Wallingford has great lessons.

Where do I start, hmmmm!  Well the students arrived ready to learn.  We had a great day as they stayed and played.  We learned a lot right here on the spot, however, some may not have gotten the lesson on the dot.  I will be reteaching, but not while singing.  I hope they have listening ears tomorrow while the weekend comes near.  We did our reading and had some fun then we want outside to run.  After that we had to write till we got it just right.  Oh no not till right just enough to blow you out of sight.  We did our math and we were a little off the path.  We were having a ball until lunch gave us a call.  We filled our tummies with all the good delicious yummies.  Then back to the room we depart for social studies and the we went to art.  We ended our day with saying good bye and thank goodness no one left and cried.

What a day?  I thought all my students were back from their illness, but not just fifty minutes into our day did poor Reggie have to go home due to being sick.  We are sorry he could not stay we miss him.  Clara is back and we are glad she is well enough form being out sick for two weeks.  We began our day with reading and writing.  We had to try to get Ms. Wolfean to let us change one thing about reading workshop or keep it like it is.  I want to know what do you think about reading in our class and how do you think it is going for you this year?  Then we worked on math and continued to learn about double digit subtraction with regrouping.  Our schedule was changed due to third grade having to give a test.  How did you like having a different recess?

I enjoyed my day day off, I hope you did too?  We had a fantastic day discussing what we did over our break.  I loved hearing all the activities you and your child shared throughout your vacation.  Today we completed reading by another AWESOME visit from Mrs. Doyle.  She came in and read one of her favorite books and we got to see how her brain thinks about books.  We wrote a persuasive text trying to get Mrs. Lucas to change are lunch or keep it the same.  What was your feeling about our lunch time, do you like it where it is?  Then we moved into math and started double digit subtraction with regrouping.  After this we did our quick check on past and present.  I hope you all are relaxed less then 80 days till summer :(

Today was excellent we got lunch with Mike.  He came to say hello to the class and eat with us because he had the day off.  Yeah, it was special, I hope he can come again?  What did you think about him surprising you?  We did our spelling, reading groups and even completed a reading quiz.  Then we moved into math and started double digit subtracting with regrouping.  After that we voted on our favorite fourth grade commercial  Then it was time to go, WOW the day went by fast.  I heard this come out of one students mouth.  I must be doing something right if they thought it was fast and fun!!!!

I know, I know, I know I am horrible I did not have my blog down!!!  However in my defense I Did the Valentine's party myself and it was fantastic!!!  We had a blast, And I ran out to relax because I did not have a minute to myself that day.  I also yesterday had  a very long staff meeting and forgot to update.  I do some what have a life, but your children should come first.  I hope you except my deepest sorry? 


On the good note, the field trip is over and pics are loaded.  If you scroll down you will see them below the blog posts.  There are more to come, I promise.  I hope you love them because your children were "ROCKIN!"  I loved taking them to the Nature center, did you enjoy yourself students?  Do you think we should go again?  Parents the nature center is all we did today, and SPELLING is all their homework!!!!  YEAH ME!!!

'Twas the night before Valentines when all through the school, all the creatures were learning, and following the rules.  The teachers hung the valentines by the desks with care in hopes that cupid would soon be there. The students were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of candies and goodies danced in their heads; Ms. Wolfean in her PJ's and you in your cap, we all settled our brains for a long night nap, when all of the sudden our alarms did make us wake from all the clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.  Away to the kitchen I flew like a flash, tore open the creal then off I dashed. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but my car ready for my dear.  With my driver so clean I knew in that moment it must be Ms. Wolfean.  More rapid then eagles she came and then called all of us by name.  Then we dash away, dash away, dash away, dash away all!  We came into school with a bound, we saw her dressed all cute from her head to her foot, we knew in that moment we were on the right route. A bundle of games and toys on our desks, we know at the end not to leave it in a wreck.  She spoke not a word but made us work, and we hope she would fill all valentine boxes, then she turned with a jerk, and laid her finger aside her nose and giving a nod out she came with a rose. After the party, and the team was all clean away the class went to their cars, bikes, and buses to the whistle, and away they all flew like a down of a thistle.  But I heard her exclaim as she drove out of sight Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and to all a good night!!!!!

Today was excellent, Mrs. Lucas came in the class to chat with us on reading.  She was impressed with what the class was doing with our books.  We have been working on note taking and learning how to discuss our books.  This helps us recall details and comprehend our stories.  She loved all of our hard work, and was excited to hear all our thoughts.  We are working hard to complete our narrative stories in our writing and can't wait till tomorrow to dive into our research on Texas Tech.  We worked on math by writing on the tables and learning how to add double digit with regrouping and not using our hundreds chart.  Then we moved right in to studying past and present in social studies.  We discussed how the seasons can help us tell time.

Today was a fantastic day, we are trying hard to stay on track and to complete all our class work.  I loved the performance last night, I thought they were amazing.  I would love to see your photos you took. If you want them posted on my blog please send them in.  The students came in to class and we got started on our morning work.  We then moved on in to our reading and reading groups.  We are still practicing how to take notes and record our thoughts.  We worked on our writing and started a new personal narrative.  After that we finished our lesson on double addition using mental math and Mrs. Zero.  This is our one hundreds chart, please have them show you.  Soon after lunch we watched a video which explained past and present to us.  The students we impressed seeing all the crazy gadgets that we used as children.  I wish you could have seen their faces.

TONIGHT IS THE BIG NIGHT!!!!!  See you all there at 6:15, please be on time we need to ensure all students are ready and prepared.  We had a great day, we read a lot.  We are working on taking notes while we read.  Please have them practice this at home for a reading response.  We are moving to writing and learning how to use media literacy in our class and everyday life.  We will start to research and take notes using media for Texas Tech.  We are still working on double digit addition and the students are finally getting pretty good at mental math.  We are also beginning our study on past and present in our world around us.  Today we looked at items and compared to what they look like now.  Please ask your child about the old objects we discussed and have them report what they reported to me.  It was interesting to hear them share their thoughts on these artifacts.

Today was a quick day with loads of work to do.  We had a busy day of learning, filled with interesting topics.  Which one was your favorite to learn in class?  I know we are excited about the performance, but we must continue to complete our studies during class.  We are doing our reading and meeting in our groups.  We are learning to take notes while we read, this might be something you might want them to do for their reading response.  They know how to take notes let them model it for you. If they did not do this Monday night have them do it Wednesday.  There is no spelling due to the performance, so believe your child when they say this.  We are talking about how to begin our writing of personal narrative in class ask them to explain ways to hook our reader in our writing.  We continued to do our math of double digit addition and will begin to move into subtraction soon.  We have started our Past and Present lesson in Social Studies.  Make sure to have a SOLID PINK SHIRT for tomorrow!!!!

     I am excited it is Friday, but sad a little because the students have been doing a wonderful job staying on task.  We are finally getting to specials on time.  I guess the every minute we are late they walk laps is helping.  They got there on time today, which was a first in a long time!!!!  We managed to get through our spelling test, reading and writing without much trouble.  In reading we are working on taking our notes and making connections to the story.  During writing time we are starting our University research and today we did not have our published work complete therefore we will begin next week.  Math was great we played with Mrs. Zero and added two digit numbers.  Then we finally worked on problems using the mental math and counting by ten strategy.  Next week we will complete the double digit of addition and move into subtraction.  We tried to complete our Social Studies but we were interrupted by Mrs. Sandford's class.  She came and we read and listened to the music to meet the younger students, we would love to see her again???

We had a marvelous day, it was filled with lots of learning.  We published our poems and made a cover for our poetry folder.  I can not wait till we add the poems Ms. Wolfean has shared with the class to my poems.  I heard one student say this under their breath. It was fantastic to hear how excited the girls and boys are about writing and reading poetry.  We will begin our University research and project, next week.  I can not wait to get started.  I also hope the class will be excited too?  Are you ready to begin our Texas Tech project?  What do you want to learn?  In reading the class was shocked because I changed my reading block a little, this was due to the training I went to.  I also changed my math some also due to training.  I love learning even though I am not in school!!  We used our 100 chart (Mrs. Zero) to add double digit numbers.  If you have a printer have them show you?  They will bring her home over the weekend to model this strategy for you.  Then finally we are completing our 100 day activity they brought in ask them what they are making?  The reason for two colors red and black are, can you guess the right answer?  Please comment on the blog?

Wow what a day!!!!  100 days of school and where has the time gone, I know to learn?  What and where do you think all our time has gone?  I loved having Mrs. Doyle come read us the book Honest Abe, she really does know how to get us engaged in her choices of books.  What are your thoughts on her coming?  We did our 100 day activities and did not finish them, therefore we will be spending sometime completing the activities.  We counted to 100 different ways to line up, wrote 100 words and made a chain, and then we started our math activities and did not finish, BOO WOO! (my class crying)  I know they were disappointed not to finish, this is why we will do it again tomorrow.  I hope the students continue on this awesome path to staying on task and completing their work.  REMEMBER TO WEAR PINK NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT!!!!
